UPDATE
My Sallie Mae loan isn't eligible for federal consolidation. I assume I took that one out because my parents made "too much" for a federal loan. It looks like I am stuck with two loan payments, from two different companies (totally about $300/month).
HOWEVER, if I enroll in school half time, I can defer my Sallie Mae one, and I assume the Direct one too. I think I would keep paying the Direct one, since it's only about $100/month and defer the Sallie Mae one. But the bottom line is that sometime, I am going to need to step it up and pay an ass load of money if I ever want to pay it off.
Fuck private schools.

What kind of loan are the sallie mae ones? Private? I am confused. Have you googled for info on this stuff....there's message boards and sites to help you with student loan questions.
I have one loan that I can not consolidate into my sallie mae ones, but I have consolidated my sallie mae ones a bajillion times.

Sallie Mae is a private loan, so the federally funded Direct Loan people won't consolodate them.
The Sallie Mae people basically said that this is the best interest I am going to get from them.
I am going to try to look into it more online, but it doesn't look like it's going to make a difference.
And what happened to your blog??

Ah. Millikin did this to me, also. No one tells you that your loans won't be eligible for consolidation when you're signing your life away. Mine are locked in at 3% though.
I would probably defer or forbear the larger one and pay as much as I could on the smaller one to make it go away faster. Or reverse that and pay off the higher interest rate first. Check with the direct loan people about deferrment....My secondary loan does not defer once you leave school for any period of time.

Eek. Good luck with that. My school is paid off, but we are still working on my husbands'. And now he's entering grad school.

Where's Ed when you need him...I can help with some car problems and be a cheering section for poems. However, I suck at Math.
